NBC News White House correspondent Julie Tsirkin posted on X (formerly Twitter) that approximately 20-30 gunshots were heard outside the White House grounds.

“Secret Service told those of us gathered on the North Lawn to run inside the press briefing room,” she posted.

ABC News Senior White House Correspondent Selina Wang was actively filming a social video on the North Lawn when the gunfire erupted.

In a post accompanying video footage, Wang stated she heard “dozens of gunshots” and that she and others “were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now.”

The video shows her ducking for cover as the shots rang out.

The situation remains developing.
