Outrage is spreading across North Carolina after a disturbing viral video appears to show a Shelby police officer repeatedly punching a Black woman in the face while she is on ground. I’m in shock and in dismay. Sadly, the people who are suppose to protect and serve are the people we are most afraid of. What’s really alarming is the size of the victim and how she was handled like a man though she wasn’t resisting arrest. She wanted answers and the more she pleaded the more the officer punched as if she didn’t matter. It’s also alarming how the cop that came to assist said multiple times “I got her” and he continued as if was staying nothing!! Another cop repeatedly saying from afar and even after being close, put your hands behind your back when clearly her hands are behind her back. There’s so many things wrong and the officer behavior and aggressiveness was definitely not warranted !!
It really doesn’t matter what she did. Any coward hiding behind a badge who uses this amount of unnecessary force on anyone should not be a police officer. Even if she had assaulted him or someone else, his force was excessive.
If she had hit him first the cop’s weapon would have been discharged. A cop is not supposed to physically respond to verbal threats. What conditions would justify the cop behaving this way?
Whatever she did she didn’t deserve to be beat like an animal. She doesn’t look like she even weighed 100 pounds wet! If the other officer hadn’t stepped in he could have killed her by blunt force. We are all Gods children and should be treated as such! I pray the young lady is okay and that justice is served.
