A North Carolina man found himself in hot water after his daughter bravely spoke out about him allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior with her following a puppet show that emphasized the importance of honesty in situations involving sexual misconduct.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office took action on April 16 by apprehending 24-year-old TreQuail Javon Rose from Whiteville, North Carolina, and slapping him with a laundry list of serious charges, including first-degree statutory rape, felony child abuse involving sexual acts, statutory sexual offenses with a minor by an adult, and child incest.
Columbus County social worker reported abuse to the authorities
On March 21, 2024, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a social worker at the Columbus County Department of Social Services regarding a sexual assault and rape of a minor child.
Following this referral, an investigation was promptly initiated. It was discovered during the investigation that the minor child had taken part in a puppet show at school, which emphasized the importance of always being truthful in challenging situations like the one portrayed in the presentation.

Following the puppet show, the department reported that the child felt the need to confide in a “trusted adult” about their experiences. According to a press release from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, the child disclosed that her father, Rose, had been sexually assaulting her.
Detectives were informed by the child that she had been raped at the ages of 6-7 and that Rose had also coerced her into engaging in sexual activities.

As per the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, after conducting forensic interviews and medical examinations, it was confirmed that the child’s allegations of sexual abuse against Rose were substantiated.
Rose is currently held at the Columbus County Detention Center on a bond of $850,000.
