According to authorities, gunfire erupted when Boone, armed with a Glock 45, attempted to shoot and kill three people in a 2018 Infiniti Q50 and a Chevy Express. During the confrontation, gunshots pierced the school bus windows, but fortunately, no one on board was shot. However, two students were injured by flying glass.

Charges and Arrests

Jaheim Savion Boone was arrested after a brief foot pursuit on Thursday. He faces numerous charges, including:

  • Three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Nine counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle
  • Possession with the intent to manufacture and sell cocaine
  • Two counts of carrying a concealed weapon
  • Resisting, delaying, obstructing a public officer

Boone remains in jail with no bond set.

Joshua Woods was charged with:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Two counts of felony conspiracy

Lamarius Anthony faces charges for:

  • Felony possession of cocaine
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

Anthony has since bonded out of jail.

Paris Lewis-Bynum is charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Possession of a stolen vehicle

New charges were filed against Bynum on Friday, including allegations of stealing a rifle from a state Highway Patrol vehicle in Ballantyne just hours before the shooting. His bond was denied Thursday, and he remains in custody.

Police have apprehended an accused murderer, 24-year-old Delexas Tykeem Williams, in Philadelphia in connection with the fatal shooting of Joshua Angelo Chandler, 24, a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Williams, was arrested on Wednesday and faces an open count of murder for the December 10, 2024, killing.

Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene by Wilson County EMS.

Both Williams and Armstrong are currently being held without bond.

Delexas Tykeem Williams, 24, of Wilson, NC, arrested in Philadelphia and charged with an open count of murder in the killing of Joshua Angelo Chandler.

The victim, Lashunda Shmicka McLendon, was tragically shot and killed while seated in a chair at 340 Archdale Drive after a confrontation with the suspect, Ebonee Makeesa Rahman.

The Incident Unfolds

According to court documents obtained by The NC Beat, earlier on Friday, December 13, 2024, officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call. Both the victim, McLendon, and the suspect, Rahman, were initially involved in a verbal altercation earlier that day.

Ebonee Makeesa Rahman, arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Lashunda McLendon in Charlotte. Rahman is seen in surveillance footage approaching McLendon before the deadly shooting.

However, the situation would later escalate to a deadly encounter later that night.

Fatal Shooting at 340 Archdale Drive

Around 9:55 p.m. on the same day, officers responded to another Assault with a Deadly Weapon call, this time with injuries, at 340 Archdale Drive. When police arrived, they discovered McLendon had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The scene was processed near the parking lot of the location, where investigators would piece together the details of the shooting.

Surveillance Footage Reveals Shocking Details

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage that captured the moments leading up to the shooting. According to court documents, Rahman is seen approaching McLendon on foot, removing her jacket, and throwing it to the ground. An altercation then ensued between the two women.

The footage shows Rahman walking toward the parking lot of Archdale Minimart. Thirty seconds later, she returns, meeting an unknown black male and retrieving a handgun from his jacket. Rahman then approaches McLendon, who was seated in a chair, and shoots her in the chest.

A Charlotte woman left behind more than just a trail of bruises after a heated altercation at another woman’s home. Taquana Price, 35, is facing charges after allegedly breaking into her a woman’s apartment following a verbal spat that took place earlier in the evening.

According to court documents obtained by The NC Beat, the drama unfolded on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at around 1:40 a.m. Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a report of breaking and entering at an apartment located at 6925 Fernwood Drive. The victim, who requested anonymity, told officers that she and Price had been drinking at a friend’s house before things took a violent turn.

The two women got into a verbal altercation, after which the victim decided to leave and return to her home. However, it wasn’t long before the situation escalated. She said she heard banging on her living room window, only to discover Price had broken in through the window.

What followed was a dragged-out brawl, according to the court documents. The victim claimed she was able to overpower Price briefly, getting on top of her to “fight her off.” After the physical altercation, the victim said she forced Price out of the apartment, but not before leaving a noticeable mark on each other.

Officers arrived at the scene to find the victim with bruising, swelling, and visible blood on her face. Meanwhile, Price wasn’t in much better shape, with scratches and bruises of her own. Seems to us that Price’s the injuries weren’t from glass, suggesting they resulted from the beat down the victim put on her.

Price was later found hiding at a friend’s house in the same neighborhood. She was detained, read her rights, and admitted to assaulting the victim. Despite the severity of the altercation, Price was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Officers also reported finding strands of Price’s hair inside the victim’s home.

North Carolina Man Arrested After Fatal Drug Deal at Charlotte Bojangles

A drug deal gone wrong at a Bojangles restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina, has led to the arrest of 27-year-old Cedric Cotten. He has been charged with the murder of 25-year-old Demarcus Gerald, following a violent altercation that ended in gunfire.

Cedric Cotten, a 27-year-old man from Charlotte, NC, arrested on December 13 for his alleged involvement in a fatal drug deal at a Bojangles restaurant. Charged with robbery, conspiracy, and murder.

According to court documents obtained by The NC Beat, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon on December 7. The caller reported hearing gunshots approximately an hour earlier and later discovered Demarcus bleeding from a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

Details of the Incident

Deontae Beasley, a surviving victim and witness, told investigators that he and Demarcus had arranged to purchase Percocet pills from a man known as “CJ.” Beasley shared photos of “CJ” with detectives, as stated in an arrest affidavit.

Upon arriving at the Bojangles parking lot at 1401 West Trade Street, “CJ” and another individual entered the backseat of Beasley’s car. During the drug transaction, a third man approached the vehicle and knocked on the driver’s side window.

Beasley reported that “CJ” claimed not to recognize the man. Shortly afterward, the second individual in the car exited briefly to interact with a black four-door Porsche Panamera before returning.

Robbery and Fatal Shooting

According to the affidavit, the second man then pulled out a firearm and demanded $500 from Beasley and two ounces of drugs from Demarcus. He fled back to the Porsche after the robbery. Demarcus exited the vehicle, pulled a gun, and fired at the suspects. In response, the robber fired six shots at Demarcus, fatally wounding him.

Beasley recounted that he searched for Demarcus but was unable to locate him. Upon checking his car, he noticed that DemarcusLouis Vuitton backpack and a Neiman Marcus shopping bag containing clothing had also been stolen.

Detectives identified “CJ” as Cedric Cotten through police databases and Instagram photos. He was arrested on Friday, December 13, and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and murder.

According to VineLink, Le’Andria was booked Monday afternoon around 3:37 p.m. The incident marks yet another troubling chapter in Johnson’s well-documented struggle with alcohol. On Tuesday afternoon, Johnson was released from custody.

In a video she released, she thanked her supporters and shared that she is still battling alcohol addiction, describing it as a daily struggle.

“If y’all know me like ya know me… then you know this is a daily walk, and this has been a daily walk for me for some time now,” Johnson said in the video.

Officials in Greenville, told The North Carolina Beat that just before 3 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to BrickTop’s restaurant on North Main Street regarding a disturbance, including Johnson screaming at other patrons. Upon arrival, officers spotted Johnson walking on North Laurens Street while yelling profanities at a male walking with her.

Police Said Johnson Matched the Description

According to police, Johnson matched the description provided by the individual who filed the complaint.

Le’Andria Attempts to Hide Alcohol from Police

Police stated that when they stopped Johnson, she was holding a Styrofoam cup containing an amber-colored liquid with a strong odor, which she attempted to conceal. Officers also noted that Johnson exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred and incoherent speech, as well as swaying while standing.

Johnson was arrested and issued a $257.50 bond.

Fans will recall that back in 2019, the Sunday Best Season 3 winner publicly admitted to her battle with alcoholism, confessing that she drank daily without realizing the extent of her problem. One night, after leaving a bar, Johnson was arrested. Though at first, she managed to receive probation for that charge, she later violated it and served 30 days in jail.

Search Continues for BMW Driver in Tragic Wrong-Way Crash That Killed Goldsboro Woman

Authorities in Johnston County, North Carolina, are searching for the driver of a BMW involved in a devastating wrong-way crash that claimed the life of 24-year-old Kortney Atkins of Goldsboro.

Details of the Tragic Crash

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3 a.m. on U.S. Highway 70 near the Cornwallis Road underpass. A white BMW was reportedly driving the wrong way, heading eastbound in the westbound lanes, when it collided head-on with a white Jeep Cherokee. The impact was so catastrophic, that one of the vehicles caught fire.

The driver of the BMW fled. Inside the Jeep Cherokee were Kortney Atkins, her husband Michael Atkins, and their young child, who is under five years old.

Kortney Atkins died on the way to the hospital. Her husband, Michael, and their child were rushed to the hospital with injuries. Michael suffered broken ribs and a broken sternum, while the child sustained minor bruises, according to Michael’s mother in a interview with ABC 11.

Both are expected to recover physically.

Kortney’s mother-in-law shared that Michael and Kortney were high school sweethearts from Powell, Tennessee. Their journey brought them to Goldsboro through Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, where Michael was stationed. The couple’s deep bond and shared life in Goldsboro make the tragedy even more hearbreaking for those who knew them.

A North Carolina man has been charged following a shocking incident at Fike High School in Wilson, where he allegedly entered the premises, grabbed a student by the neck, and choked them, causing the student to suffer a seizure.

The suspect has been identified as Quinton Earl Lofton. According to court documents, Lofton already faces pending charges in Wilson County, including taking two counts each of indecent liberties with a child, committing a statutory offense with a child and sexual activity by a substitute parent and four counts of felony child abuse-sexual act.

Despite these serious allegations, police have yet to release an official statement regarding the events at Fike High School. However, reports circulating on social media provided what could have happened.

Witnesses and online accounts claim that the altercation began when Lofton’s daughter and the victim were reportedly “hitting each other”. It is alleged that Lofton’s daughter called her father to the school to confront the student.

The incident, now widely shared on social media, allegedly shows Lofton, wearing a red shirt and black pants. In the footage, he is seen violently grabbing the student around the neck, before pushing him around a corner of a hallway into a guardrail on a staircase. Moments later, the student collapses and begins seizing, before getting up and walking away.

Throughout the video, Lofton can be heard repeatedly saying, “Put your hands on her again,” and emphasizing, “She’s a girl… she’s a girl.” The graphic footage has sparked outrage online, with many questioning how Lofton was able to enter the school and gain access to students.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether additional charges will be filed against Lofton for the incident at Fike High School. But as a result of the incident, he is charged with strangulation and disorderly conduct.

Community Concerns and Questions

The incident has raised serious concerns about school security and the safety of students. Parents and community members are demanding answers regarding how Lofton was able to bypass school security measures and whether proper protocols were in place to prevent such an event.

In the early hours of December 11, 2024, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to an urgent call that turned into a case of sexual assault. At approximately 2:29 AM, deputies arrived at a residence on Armstrong Avenue in New Bern, NC, to investigate a report of a missing teenage girl.

While on the scene, deputies heard desperate yelling for help coming from further down the road. Following the sound, they found a teenage girl lying on the side of the road, and told deputies that a man had attempted to sexually assault her. Emergency Medical Services transported the juvenile to CarolinaEast Medical Center for treatment, as investigators scrambled to piece together what happened.

The investigation, led by the Criminal Investigations Bureau, revealed that the victim had reportedly been assaulted by a co-worker after leaving work. Investigators learned the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Larry Mayfield Minor Jr. of New Bern, allegedly provided the teen with alcohol before taking her to his residence, where the assault occurred.

Deputies and investigators swiftly executed a search warrant at Minor’s home. He was taken into custody without incident and now faces serious charges, including Felony Second Degree Forcible Rape.

The suspect remains in custody with no bond and appeared in Craven County Courthouse on December 12, 2024, at 9:00 AM in courtroom 4.

A firearm was recovered from the scene, along with other evidence related to the shooting. Carter has been charged with one count of felony murder and remains incarcerated at the Vance County Jail without bond.

The North Carolina Beat has also obtained video footage of the incident believed to be the fatal one. While the details remain unclear, Carter can be seen wearing a white shirt in the video. Towards the end, the woman seen wielding the bat is reported to be Wynn. She is shot and then the video ends.
