Police in Oxford have arrested one suspect and are actively searching for another after a shooting left two teens hospitalized on Thursday morning. The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Maple Drive when two men allegedly shot a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old.
Both victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were immediately rushed to a local hospital before being airlifted to Duke University Medical Center for further treatment. Thankfully, both teens are in stable condition and are expected to recover.
Authorities have arrested 26-year-old Jerome Michael Bumpass of Oxford in connection with the shooting. Bumpass faces charges including three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

A second suspect, Nicolen Maurice Pettiford Jr., is still at large. Authorities warn that Pettiford Jr. is considered armed and dangerous.

Residents are advised not to approach him if spotted but to call 911 immediately with any information regarding his whereabouts.
