North Carolina Uber Driver Fatally Shot by 18-Year-Old Dunn Teen in Benson

Authorities have arrested 18-year-old Tray’vian Brown of Dunn, North Carolina, in connection with the murder of 57-year-old Emmanuel Kwame Gbedee, who was working as an Uber driver early Sunday morning.

According to Johnston County deputies, Gbedee was found fatally shot in the backseat of his car near the 2500 block of Holly Grove Road in Benson. Investigators believe Gbedee had picked up Brown shortly before the incident. Gbedee was found dead a short distance from the pickup location, with his car’s flashers on.

Authorities confirmed that there was no prior association between Gbedee and Brown, and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.
