47-year-old Donald Earl Lanier, who works as a school counselor at Martin Millennium Academy, has been arrested for assault resulting in serious bodily injury and driving while impaired.
A North Carolina school social worker and counselor is in jail on a $500,000 bond after allegedly beating 44-year-old Brooks Wester, a mother of four, resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the Chowan County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office also stated that 47-year-old Donald Earl Lanier has been charged with driving while impaired.
Lanier was arrested on January 9 in Edenton, North Carolina after fleeing the crime scene where he allegedly beat Wester.
According to a local crime blog, Fighting Crime News and Who’s Wanted, Wester died as a result of her injuries on Wednesday, and the charges against Lanier should be upgraded to murder soon.
Lanier is a school counselor and social worker at Martin Millennium Academy in Tarboro, North Carolina.
He remains in the Chowan County Jail.
