North Carolina man accused of fatal hit-and-run turns himself in after hiding for few days

Word On The Curb… a man from North Carolina who reportedly struck a 33-year-old pedestrian in Rocky Mount and then fled the scene has finally surrendered to the authorities after being sought since last Saturday.

As per the Rocky Mount police, the incident occurred when 33-year-old Davelle Lashon Debro was crossing East Raleigh Boulevard and was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Floyd Cornell Kenely of Rocky Mount. Tragically, Debro lost his life at the scene.

Following the incident, the police issued a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) for a black 200-2006 Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban with significant damage to the front right and missing at least part of the right headlight.

In a surprising turn of events, Kenely turned himself in to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, where he faced charges of felony hit-and-run and speeding. His bond was set at $50,000 secured, and he was able to post bail just before noon on Wednesday.
