A New Orleans jail escape has authorities scrambling after ten inmates escaped through a hole behind a toilet early Friday morning, May 16, 2025. As of today, four have been recaptured, while a manhunt continues for remaining six dangerous fugitives still at large.
Inmates Escape Through Shocking Security Lapse
According to investigators, inmates exploited deteriorating cell conditions, removing a toilet to expose a hidden hole. The escapees maneuvered through concealed spaces within the facility, exiting via a loading dock and scaling the security fence. Disturbingly, graffiti discovered at the scene mockingly read, “To Easy LoL,” indicating a troubling level of planning and facility vulnerabilities.

Maintenance Worker Sterling Williams Arrested for Involvement in New Orleans Jail Escape
Sterling Williams, a 33-year-old maintenance employee at the jail, was arrested and charged after admitting to shutting off the water supply to facilitate the inmates’ escape. Williams told authorities he complied under duress after inmate Antoine Massey allegedly threatened him with a homemade knife, warning that alerting guards with a flood would disrupt their planned breakout.

Williams now faces severe legal repercussions, charged with ten counts of principal to simple escape and one count of malfeasance in office.
Four Escapees Recaptured; Six Still on the Loose
Law enforcement efforts have led to the recapture of four escapees within days:

Gary Price (21) – Captured in New Orleans East.

Kendell Myles (20) – Discovered hiding beneath a car in the French Quarter.

Robert Moody (22) – Arrested in Central City.

Dkenan Dennis (24) – Apprehended along Chef Menteur Highway.
Authorities continue intense search operations for the six inmates who remain fugitives, all described as potentially violent.
