Word on the Curb… A woman in Missouri baked her 1-month-old daughter when she mistakenly put her in the oven, thinking it was the baby’s crib. Her bond was reduced during a court hearing on Tuesday.
Charged is 26-year-old Mariah Thomas.
On February 9, police reported that the mother placed the child in the oven instead of her crib. Paramedics declared the child dead at a Midtown residence where Thomas and her 1-month-old baby resided. According to reports, family members close to Thomas are saying she may have had a mental illness or been suffering from cognitive disabilities.
Thomas was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. On Tuesday at a hearing, the judge lowered her bond from $200,000 to $100,000, according to KSHB.
According to online reports, the 1-month-old infant girl had suffered thermal injuries all over her body. Her bodysuit had melted into her soiled diaper. Officials also mentioned that a charred baby blanket was found in the living room.
The mother has an arraignment scheduled for March 4.
Are you kidding me? Charged with endangering a child…she straight up murdered that baby. Mistakenly put her in the oven thinking it was the crib? Why was the oven even turned on then in the first place? That’s not right at all. That poor baby deserves justice. What an awful way to die…
@Melissa You are right in everything you say. You may or may not know that there is an urban myth that bodies burn up and then there are just a few ashes left. She thought it would be easy to get rid of a handful of ashes.
