Haley Ervin Allegedly Kidnapped Daughter
A 30-year-old Mooresville mother is facing first-degree kidnapping charges after authorities say she took her 4-year-old child from DSS custody—without court approval.
Haley Ervin, allegedly pulled up uninvited to a family member’s house, where DSS had temporarily placed the child, and snatched her baby like it was still her legal right.

Snatched From DSS Custody
It happened on July 24, when Mooresville police were hit with a report of a possible child abduction. Investigators say that although Ervin is the child’s biological mother, legal custody had been handed over to the Iredell County Department of Social Services (DSS).
Caught Slippin’ in Rowan County
By the next day, July 25, Mooresville detectives linked up with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and got a warrant to raid a property in Rowan County. That’s where they found Ervin and the child. She was arrested on the spot and charged with first-degree kidnapping.
Ervin bonded out jail on Monday, July 28, and her child has since been reunited with DSS.
