A North Carolina man is in jail without bond after being arrested for allegedly killing a 17-year-old girl who was last seen Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in the downtown area of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Police say 27-year-old Marquette Douglas is responsible for the murder of 17-year-old Quameisha Dashay Branch.
On Friday, February 10, 2023, police said they received a tip regarding Branch’s disappearance and searched an area east of Garysburg along Old Highway in Northampton County. Upon searching the area, police say they found Branch dead from a headshot wound. During the preliminary investigation, Roanoke Rapids police issued a warrant for Douglas.
Authorities confirmed that Douglas was the boyfriend of Quameisha’s mother, Oneisha Branch, who has been silent about her boyfriend allegedly killing her daughter.
Douglas turned himself in Friday evening, February 10, and is charged with one count of murder.
Police have not said how Quameisha’s body wound up in the area of Garysburg along Old Highway.
Douglas appeared in court Monday and remains in jail with no bond.
