Malachi Brown arrested after woman claims he tried to pass bleach off as “birth control.”
COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. – A North Carolina man is facing serious criminal charges after authorities say he gave a woman a cup of water mixed with bleach and falsely told her it would act as birth control.
Malachi Kitterrance Tyquan Brown, 20, of Clarendon, was arrested Wednesday and later bonded out on a $100,000 secured bond, according to online court records.
Brown is charged with contaminating food or drink with a controlled substance, a felony offense.
According to Columbus County News, the alleged victim — a 20-year-old woman — told deputies that Brown picked her up and drove her to a residence. The two reportedly engaged in consensual sex.
Warrants listed the date of offense as Friday, January 16, 2026.
Afterward, the woman said Brown handed her a cup of water that had an unusual taste. When she questioned it, Brown allegedly told her the water contained diluted bleach, claiming it would “kill sperm cells” and prevent pregnancy while being harmless to her body.
Not long after returning home, the woman reportedly became violently ill and began vomiting. She then called 911 for help.
Emergency medical personnel responded and transported her to Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville, where she received medical treatment.
