Johnston County Father Admits To Killing His Four Children In Released 911 Call [LISTEN]

A Johnston County father called 911 to report he had killed his kids

Authorities say a father, Wellington Delano Dickens III confessed during a chilling 911 call that led deputies to discover the bodies of his four children in a Zebulon garage.

A 38-year-old father confessed over a 911 call that he killed his four children. The call led deputies to a devastating discovery — the bodies of four young victims inside the trunk of a car parked in the family’s garage.

On Monday night, October 27, 2025, deputies from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call placed by Wellington Delano Dickens III. The chilling call began with Dickens calmly telling dispatchers, “I killed my children.”

In the released audio, Dickens struggled to explain why, saying, “It’s probably my fault … it’s bad.” He told the dispatcher that the killings started as “over-disciplining,” and made clear no gun or knife was involved.

However, inside the garage, they discovered the decaying remains of four other children.

Authorities say Dickens was taken into custody without incident and charged with four counts of murder. He is being held without bond at the Johnston County Detention Center.

The victims were identified as Dickens’s biological and stepchildren:

  • Leah Dickens (6) – killed in May 2025

  • Zoe Dickens (9) – killed in August 2025

  • Wellington Dickens IV (10) – killed in late August/early September 2025

  • Sean Brasfield (18) – killed in September 2025

Investigators now believe the deaths were spread out over several months, not a single incident.

Neighbors described the family as private and withdrawn. Dickens’s wife, Stephanie Rae Jones Dickens, died in April 2024 from complications related to a miscarriage.
