Jakari Snowden is accused of violently assaulting and terrorizing her girlfriend inside a Charlotte Airbnb, leaving her with serious injuries.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.– A Charlotte woman is at the center of a horrifying case that reads more like a crime movie than real life — but according to official documents, it allegedly happened inside an Airbnb right in Uptown back in 2024.
And if that wasn’t enough… she’s already been locked up AGAIN.
FROM ROMANTIC TRIP TO PURE NIGHTMARE
According to a warrant affidavit, Jakari Snowden flew her girlfriend from New York to Charlotte in early July 2024 for what was supposed to be a cute getaway. Instead, police say it turned into hours of violence, control, and straight-up torture inside an Airbnb on North Poplar Street.
The situation reportedly exploded after Snowden went through her girlfriend’s phone and found an old video of her with another man. That’s when everything allegedly went LEFT.
Investigators say Snowden didn’t just argue… she allegedly snapped. The girlfriend told police she was punched repeatedly in the face and struck in the head with a tequila bottle, leaving her injured and bleeding. The affidavit describes how she was dragged around the house by her clothing and later struck with a lamp, causing a serious head gash.
Authorities also say Snowden’s girlfriend was cut with a knife and left bleeding from multiple areas of her body, including her head, arms, and underarm area .
“GET IT WRONG, YOU GET CUT”
Police say Snowden forced her girlfriend into a bathtub, grabbed a knife, and began questioning her, allegedly telling her that if she answered anything wrong, she would be cut. According to the affidavit, the victim was terrified, crying, and begging for the violence to stop — but at one point, Snowden allegedly followed through and cut her anyway.
HUMILIATION, NUDITY & SEXUAL CONTROL
The affidavit lays out disturbing claims of humiliation and control that go far beyond physical violence. Investigators say Snowden stripped the victim, poured liquor on her body, and spit on her while calling her degrading names.
Police also say Snowden took nude photos of her girlfriend and threatened to post them online. Even while injured, the girlfriend was allegedly forced to clean up blood and mess inside the home.
And it didn’t stop there. According to investigators, Snowden made threats involving other men and later forced her girlfriend to perform sexual acts under the threat of more violence.
Authorities say Snowden maintained control over her girlfriend throughout the ordeal by isolating her and instilling fear. The girlfriend was reportedly not allowed to contact her family, had limited access to her phone, and was repeatedly threatened with death if police were contacted.
At one point, even while at the hospital, Snowden’s girlfriend said she was too afraid to fully report what had happened because Snowden remained close by.
The victim eventually made a desperate escape after Snowden allegedly fell asleep. Fearing she would be heard if she used the front door, she packed what she could and jumped out of a window to get away.
She then ran to seek medical attention and help before eventually making her way back home to New York.
SHE’S ARRESTED AGAIN
New court documents confirm Jakari Snowden was re-arrested on March 14, 2026, after allegedly violating the terms of her electronic monitoring while out awaiting court proceedings.
She is in the Mecklenburg County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
