An ICE agent is officially off the job—for now—after a shocking video went viral showing him shoving a distressed woman into a wall, then to the floor inside a federal immigration building in Manhattan.
The incident went down at 26 Federal Plaza, the heart of immigration court proceedings in New York City. The chaotic moment was caught on camera and has since made waves across social media, sparking outrage.
In the now-viral clip, the woman—seen with her child—is crying and pleading with immigration officials who are detaining her husband. Tensions clearly running high.
That’s when the ICE agent, not even in uniform, casually says “adios” before violently shoving the woman into a wall. She then collapses to the floor, and the video cuts with the agent standing over her as others shout in disbelief.
But it doesn’t end there.
A photo circulating shows the same officer grabbing the woman’s hair prior to pushing her.
Officials have confirmed that the woman never touched or threatened the agents. She was later hospitalized for her injuries.
DHS Response: “Unacceptable Behavior”
The Department of Homeland Security responded after backlash.
Tricia McLaughlin, DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, issued a statement slamming the ICE agent’s behavior as “unacceptable and beneath the men and women of ICE.”
She confirmed that the agent has been relieved of his current duties while a full investigation unfolds. No word yet on whether the officer is suspended, fired, or reassigned.
DHS says its officers are expected to uphold “the highest professional standards,” but for many watching the clip—this was anything but professional.
Critics and immigration advocates are saying this kind of abuse is nothing new, just rarely captured so clearly on video.

He should be fired immediately.His job requires him to serve and protect,this lady received nothing but hate and anger from him. He definitely wouldn’t want anyone with a badge to do this to his Mom or wife. He’s one of the bad cops,and I’m so glad there’s proof of his bad attitude.Can you just imagine how he acts in the streets. He’s at a courthouse and showing his power over this lady.
