Granville County EMS Caught on Video REFUSING to Help Struggling Patient – “I Don’t Have Time”
The audacity of some emergency medical workers is truly mind-blowing, and two Granville County EMS employees (Granville County EMS refuses to help) just proved they have NO business in this field. In a disturbing video sent to The North Carolina Beat, two so-called “EMS professionals” were caught on camera straight-up REFUSING to assist a patient in obvious distress.

Coco Melanie, the daughter of the patient, Brenda, said she called 911 around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, because her mother was in extreme pain, barely can walk and had difficulty breathing. But instead of compassion and care, Melanie said the EMS workers arrived with an attitude and acted like they were being inconvenienced.
Rolls Eyes, Huffing, and ZERO Compassion
From the moment they arrived, Melanie said the two so-called “professionals”—who The North Carolina Beat has identified as Kylie Elizabeth Liles and Idabelle Proffitt-Poteat—were anything but helpful.
“THEY BOTH APPROACHED WITH AN ATTITUDE AND ABSOLUTELY NO COMPASSION,” Melanie told The North Carolina Beat.

When Melanie explained that her mother could barely walk and needed the stretcher, these two decided to be lazy and rude instead.
“BOTH PROCEEDS TO ROLL THEIR EYES AND HUFF AND SAID ‘SHE ALREADY OUTSIDE’,” Melanie recounted. “THE PORCH IS BIG ENOUGH FOR THEM TO LOAD HER ON A STRETCHER BUT THEY WANTED HER TO WALK DOWN THAT LONG A*S RAMP.”
Caught on Camera: The Moment They Switched Up
Melanie, seeing that these two were refusing to do their damn jobs, pulled out her phone to record.
“IDABELLE TOLD ME THAT I COULD TAKE HER (BRENDA) TO THE HOSPITAL MYSELF AND THE OTHER ONE, KYLIE, TRIED TO ACT ALL INNOCENT WHEN I TURNED THE CAMERA ON,” Melanie said.
“I Don’t Have Time” – The Disgusting Words of an EMS Worker
As Melanie films the employees, she says they want to be nice because she has the camera on, to which Kylie, with a nasty attitude and a slight neck roll, responds, “The camera doesn’t mean anything.”
In the background, Idabelle can be heard saying, “Yes or no? Because I don’t have time,” after Kylie initially asked Brenda if she wanted to go to the hospital to be checked out.
“YOU DON’T HAVE TIME FOR WHAT?” MELANIE ASKS IDABELLE. “MY MOTHER IS SICK, AND I CALLED AN AMBULANCE!”

Even as Brenda struggled to make her way down the ramp in pain, Idabelle stood with her hands in her pockets, doing absolutely NOTHING.

Granville County EMS: Y’ALL HIRING JUST ANYBODY NOW?
When Melanie told Kylie she would be reporting their disgusting behavior, Kylie had the AUDACITY to respond, “Please do, I can give you the phone number and email.”
Even after learning that Brenda had asthma, Idabelle and Kylie still refused to help her. The video shows it all.
SHAMEFUL. UNPROFESSIONAL. DISGUSTING.
If you don’t want to help people, GET OUT of the medical field.
These 2 need to be fired immediately. There isn’t “more” to the story. They took an oath to serve the public. We all see, they clearly failed to do that. If they are tired, or if it’s the end of their shift, they are still required to assist the ill. They need an attitude adjustment and should be in the unemployment line.
Doesn’t even matter if it was another side to the story, that’s part of being a EMS. If you can’t handle rowdy or condescending patients than you should just quit. No matter how idiotic some people may be it’s still your obligation to help them as long as they aren’t being violent.
