Gastonia Wrestling Coach Charged After Alleged Sex Crimes Involving Middle School Student

GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia wrestling coach charged with multiple felony sex offenses involving a student is being held without bond, according to Gaston County court records and local law enforcement.

Authorities say Jashon Jefferies, 21, was arrested on Monday, January 19, 2026, following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor. Court documents allege the incidents occurred in December 2025 while Jefferies was serving as a volunteer wrestling coach with Gaston County Schools.

Records indicate Jefferies was assigned to Grier Middle School, where investigators say the alleged offenses involved a student while he was acting in a position of authority connected to school activities.





Jefferies is facing a total of five felony charges, including two counts of statutory rape of a child under the age of 15, one count of statutory sex offense with a minor, and two counts of committing a sexual act with a student.

According to jail records, Jefferies is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail without bond.
