A 2-year-old Maryland girl died after her father allegedly shot her between the eyes in their Baltimore home. Police said that the father, Christopher Gamble, 28, lied about what happened.
The Baltimore community has been in mourning for a week since the father of a 2-year-old girl shot her between the eyes inside the master bedroom of the home, resulting in her death.
Last Sunday, Baltimore police reported that they had been notified about a 2-year-old, Charlee Gamble, who had been shot and was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police alleged that when Christopher first brought Charlee to the hospital, he handed her to a staff member, got into his Acura, and drove away. Police said Christopher went home, changed clothes, and later returned to the hospital with the child’s mother.
Charlee passed away around 8 p.m.
‘Master bedroom murder’
Investigators said that they were able to speak to Christopher and learned that on his way to the hospital with Charlee’s mother, he reportedly said, “I have to die…it was my fault.” According to the police, at the time of the murder, Christopher was at home alone with his daughter and three other children he has with Charlee’s mother.
Christopher was in the master bedroom with Charlee moments before he shot her “one time between her eyes,” according to the police. Investigators said his interviews were inconsistent. They said that Christopher initially told them that Charlee must have picked up the gun he left on a TV stand, implying that she may have shot herself.
Christopher Gamble refused to tell police about the whereabouts of the firearm he used to kill his 2-year-old daughter Charlee Gamble
Investigators said Christopher had difficulty explaining the whereabouts of the murder weapon. When officers obtained a search warrant for his home and car, they were unable to find the weapon. Interestingly, investigators reported that there was no blood in the home or any other evidence. According to investigators, Christopher admitted to illegally purchasingthe gun for $600 and claimed he didn’t know its whereabouts.
Christopher is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault, child abuse resulting in death, and a half dozen gun charges.
He is still at Central Booking in Baltimore.
