Police in Charlotte charged Matisha Wood after a violent domestic altercation that left a man with multiple injuries inside a hotel room at the MainStay South Extended Stay located at 5840 Westpark Drive.
According to police, on August 29, 2025, around 1:02 p.m., officers responded to a priority domestic violence assault call. When officers arrived, they found George White Jr. sitting in the hotel lobby with a white rag soaked in blood wrapped around his right wrist.
Authorities said White suffered a deep laceration to his wrist, along with bite marks on his right shoulder and bicep. He also had a contusion on the back of his head, which he told police came from Wood allegedly throwing a bottle at him.
According to court documents, the dispute began after White messaged his wife to receive an activation code for a replacement phone he and Wood had just purchased. Police said Wood became furious upon discovering the message.
