Bishop Shawn Sacar Smith, 48, pastor of Progressive Church of Jesus of the Apostolic Faith The Cathedral of Praise, is being charged after he was accused of stealing from his job at Family Dollar. According to warrants filed in Mecklenburg County, Smith allegedly took a total of $883.31 in cash and merchandise while working at the discount retail chain on August 23, 2025.
Larceny by Employee
The warrant reads that Smith did “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously… embezzle and convert to [his] own use” money and goods meant for his employer. He allegedly committed the act with the intent to defraud Family Dollar—and without their consent.
So while Smith couldn’t get a “loan” from fellow saints or gospel friends, court docs say he allegedly decided to bless himself with blessings that weren’t his.
Released on a Promise
Smith was arrested last Tuesday and hit with a felony larceny by employee charge. But no worries, he didn’t spend a night behind bars. The good bishop was released on a written promise to appear in court. Must be nice.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO JUST SIT BACK AND ALLOW GOD TO WORK . This is the same “BISHOP “THAT HAS SO MANY BUSINESS THAT HE SO CALL OWN “this scammer “ that rents properties for housing and instead of him paying the rent he makes excuses not to pay, yet he moves elderly people into the properties and charges them rent without the owner consent. He has destroyed so many properties it’s unbelievable. He’s very “SMART” knowledgeable when it comes to the law and rental properties and that’s how he gets over on the owners while buying time until he finds his next Victim. Bishop owes over 20,000 if not more to those owners that thought they were dealing with a TRUE Man Of GOD . Now , now you question why some people don’t attend church (ANSWER) because of demons like this . This is not for anyone to judge including myself ,nor cast stones BUT GOD has a way of stopping the Devil when it comes to those that truly believe and serve him. GOD IS NOT A GOD OF CONFUSION… but somehow this guy has confused those owners with all the lies he tells to get over on them .Prayers for those Victims that had major losses while renting to bishop and had to pay outrageous prices to get their properties back on track for other tenants. UNTIL THEN HE has to get it right with GOD at this point because that’s a real demon imbedded into him.
Please pray for this man of God and leave the rest to God.
