Wife Allegedly Discovers Disturbing Home Surveillance Footage of Attorney Steven Tyler Swain
A well-known probate and estate planning attorney in Houston was arrested and charged in a disgusting case involving the family dog.
According to court records and investigators with Harris County Precinct 1, 56-year-old Steven Tyler Swain — a longtime Houston attorney and principal of The Swain Law Firm, P.C. — is facing a state jail felony bestiality charge after authorities say his wife discovered alleged sexual acts involving the family dog captured on home surveillance cameras inside their upscale Memorial-area residence.
Swain reportedly turned himself in around Friday, May 23, 2026, before posting a reduced $7,500 bond. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the 183rd District Court.
Wife Allegedly Found Disturbing Footage While Reviewing Home Cameras
According to investigative documents, the allegations stem from surveillance footage allegedly recorded in November 2025 at the couple’s home on Providence Park in Houston.
Authorities say Swain’s wife had installed cameras throughout the home due to ongoing contractor work and what were described as growing suspicions surrounding her husband’s behavior.
But while reviewing the footage months later, investigators say she allegedly discovered videos showing a man she identified as her husband exposing himself in a bedroom and calling over the family’s small black dog, named Shipley, for sexual contact.
Court records reportedly describe the dog licking Swain during the recorded incidents.
The wife allegedly told investigators she was “100% certain” the man seen in the footage was Steven Tyler Swain and confirmed the dog was their family pet.
After finding the video, authorities say she immediately removed the dog from the residence for its safety and contacted the Houston SPCA, providing the organization with the surveillance footage.
The Houston SPCA then reportedly contacted Harris County Precinct 1 investigators earlier this month, launching the criminal investigation that ultimately led to felony charges.
According to the charging documents, Shipley is currently safe and remains in the care of Swain’s wife.
Investigators have not publicly alleged that the dog suffered physical injuries connected to the accusations.
