Lucas Hunt: Popular “Thank You Jesus” Guilty
Sign Founder Pleads Guilty to Minor Exploitation But Avoids Prison
ASHEBORO, N.C. – The man who made “Thank You Jesus” yard signs, a North Carolina man – admitted to a felony involving the sexual exploitation of minors… and he’s staying free on probation.
Lucas Timothy Hunt, 25, of Asheboro — the face (and founder) behind those ubiquitous yellow faith signs — pleaded guilty Wednesday to third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
He got a good plea deal with just 36 months of supervised probation, 30 years on the sex offender registry, mandatory treatment, and the judge let him keep living with his child.
Back in February 2025, the authorities caught Hunt receiving and sharing an explicit video of underage girls via a messaging app. He forwarded it to at least six people. Originally facing a harsher second-degree charge, it got reduced. His team claims it was never downloaded to his device. (Read the original arrest story here)
The “Thank You Jesus” mission tried damage control, saying the signs are bigger than one man and that he had “blessed thousands.”
