Charlotte Man Accused of Setting NoDa Home On Fire, Stabbing Victim and Hitting Girlfriend With Frying Pan

Charlotte man accused in NoDa house fire attack involving attempted murder and arson

A Charlotte man is behind bars after police say he carried out a brutal attack—stabbing a victim, pouring gasoline on him, setting a home on fire, and assaulting his girlfriend.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte man is charged after police say he went on a violent rampage inside a NoDa home — allegedly beating, stabbing, and trying to burn a man alive before turning on his own girlfriend.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, 29-year-old Aleksandros Soutzos was arrested late Friday night, April 3, 2026, at a home on Herrin Avenue after officers responded to a chaotic scene.

Police say Soutzos forced his way into the residence and immediately attacked a male victim using a wooden table leg, striking him repeatedly. Investigators say the situation escalated even further when Soutzos allegedly grabbed a silver pocketknife — reportedly taken from the victim — and began stabbing him.

But it didn’t stop there.

Authorities allege Soutzos then poured gasoline on the victim and set the house on fire, attempting to burn the man alive inside the home. The victim suffered serious injuries during the attack but managed to survive.

THEN IT GOT EVEN MORE DISTURBING

During the chaos, police say Soutzos mistook his own girlfriend for the male victim — and threw a frying pan at her, striking her in the head.

This wasn’t the first time officers say she had been targeted.

Just days earlier, on March 22, Soutzos had already been charged in connection to another alleged domestic violence incident at the same home, where he is accused of grabbing the woman by her neck and throwing her to the ground.
