A Millbrook High senior and football player is out on $100K bond after police say he brought a loaded firearm onto campus.
RALEIGH, N.C. — A senior football player at Millbrook High School is out on bond after authorities say he brought a loaded handgun onto campus, triggering a school lockdown.
Malcolm McIntyre, 18, appeared in Wake County court Thursday morning, where a judge set his bond at $100,000. By the end of the hearing, the bond had been posted — allowing the Millbrook senior to walk out of jail.
WHAT POLICE SAY HAPPENED
According to law enforcement, officers responded to the school Wednesday around 11:15 a.m. after receiving information that a student may have been in possession of a firearm. Authorities say McIntyre was found with a loaded gun on educational property.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown for more than an hour while officers secured the building and investigated the situation. No injuries were reported.
McIntyre now faces the following charges:
-
Carrying a gun on educational property (felony)
-
Carrying a concealed weapon (misdemeanor)
-
Resisting a public officer (misdemeanor)
-
Disorderly conduct at school (misdemeanor)
Officials have not publicly detailed how the weapon was discovered or whether the firearm was displayed.
FROM FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS TO A COURTROOM
McIntyre is not just another student — he is a member of Millbrook’s football program, which competed in the NCHSAA 8A State Championship during the 2025 season. As a senior, he was part of a class preparing for graduation just months away.
That narrative shifted this week.
