ROWAN COUNTY, NC — The audacity is loud.
Josh Harrington, a candidate for the Rowan County Board of Commissioners, is under fire after resharing and laughing at a racist AI-generated post tied to Donald Trump — all while facing criminal charges for allegedly stalking a female police officer.
President Donald Trump Posts Racist AI Video Depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as Apes
According to screenshots circulating online, Harrington reshared Trump’s offensive AI post depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes — a trope long rooted in racist propaganda. Harrington didn’t just reshare it. He reportedly jumped into the comments laughing.
When confronted, Harrington attempted damage control, claiming he wasn’t laughing at the racist imagery itself but at how “he [Trump] messed up this bad.” That explanation didn’t land.
As backlash grew, Harrington attempted to clean up his remarks, initially stating that “the left and colored folk do not want the post shown at all.”
He later edited the comment to read, “the left and folks of ethnicities other than white do not want the post shown at all.”
Because what’s not funny is what came next. Harrington was arrested Tuesday night after a female officer with the Mooresville Police Department accused him of a disturbing pattern of behavior.
Court documents allege Harrington contacted the officer’s employer with a false complaint, made Facebook posts and private messages about her, reached out to her coworkers to dig up personal information, posted allegations involving her family and personal relationships, and even claimed she had an affair with an officer at another agency
HARRINGTON CRIES “SILENCED”
In a interview with local reporters, Harrington pushed back hard, claiming the warrant isn’t about harassment at all — but about silencing independent journalism.
That defense raised eyebrows fast.
