Harnett County Deadly Crash Leaves One Man Dead as Driver Allegedly Flees Scene
HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — A deadly crash in rural Harnett County has now turned into a criminal case involving both a mother and her daughter, after investigators say the driver fled the scene and later tried to mislead law enforcement.
According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around noon Saturday at the intersection of McArtan Road and Elliott Bridge Road in the Linden community, just north of Fayetteville near Anderson Creek.

Troopers say a gray vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before crashing at the intersection. Inside the car were two occupants who were not wearing seatbelts. The passenger, identified as Timothy McLean, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the driver did not stay to help.
DRIVER ALLEGEDLY JUMPED FROM VEHICLE AND RAN
Authorities allege the driver exited the crashed vehicle and fled on foot, leaving McLean behind. After an investigation, troopers identified the driver as 40-year-old Goldie Marlene Marsh, who was arrested Sunday.
Marsh now faces a long list of serious charges, including:

Driving while impaired

Driving while license revoked

Reckless driving with wanton disregard

Failure to report an accident

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Failure to wear a seatbelt (driver)
Court records show Marsh was already facing a felony cocaine possession charge stemming from an arrest in October. She is currently being held without bond at the Harnett County Jail.
MOTHER ACCUSED OF HELPING COVER UP CRASH
Investigators say Marsh did not act alone.
Her mother, 67-year-old Sharon Blackman Marsh, is accused of picking her daughter up after the crash and then providing false or misleading information to law enforcement about who was driving the vehicle.
According to arrest warrants, Sharon Marsh is charged with:

Felony obstructing justice

Aiding and abetting driving while license revoked

Resisting a public officer
She was later released after posting a $10,000 bond.
OUT-OF-STATE WARRANT ADDS TO TROUBLE
Court documents further reveal that Goldie Marsh is also wanted in Kentucky, where she has a prior conviction related to identity theft.
Both Goldie Marsh and Sharon Blackman Marsh are scheduled to make their first court appearance at 9 a.m. on January 20 at the Harnett County Courthouse.
