Authorities have provided more details about a tragic incident involving a 22-year-old woman who is accused of killing her 10-year-old sister, Mashiyah Squire.
The child’s mother made the heartbreaking discovery of her daughter’s body, partially concealed in a trash bag. The suspect, Kaneijah Zyir Bradley, has been arrested in connection with the case.
Upon returning home, the mother noticed a strong smell of bleach and realized her Mashiyah was missing. When law enforcement arrived, they found the mother in the backyard cradling her daughter, who had suffered multiple cuts. The young girl was found partially inside a trash bag in a household dumpster, and two knives were recovered as evidence. Dark spots were also discovered in the Mashiyah’s bedroom, and a vacuum and disinfectant cleaner were taken as evidence.
The incident took place in the 2000 block of Beaverdam Road, just outside Enfield, North Carolina. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the family in laying the 10-year-old to rest. The campaign described the child as “the sweetest, brightest little lady ever.”
No motive for the murder has been disclosed, and Bradley is currently held in Halifax County Jail without bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on January 25, 2024.
