A Charlotte woman has been arrested and charged with the fatal shooting of another woman following a violent altercation. The victim, Lashunda Shmicka McLendon, was tragically shot and killed while seated in a chair at 340 Archdale Drive after a confrontation with the suspect, Ebonee Makeesa Rahman.
The Incident Unfolds
According to court documents obtained by The NC Beat, earlier on Friday, December 13, 2024, officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call. Both the victim, McLendon, and the suspect, Rahman, were initially involved in a verbal altercation earlier that day.
However, the situation would later escalate to a deadly encounter later that night.
Fatal Shooting at 340 Archdale Drive
Around 9:55 p.m. on the same day, officers responded to another Assault with a Deadly Weapon call, this time with injuries, at 340 Archdale Drive. When police arrived, they discovered McLendon had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The scene was processed near the parking lot of the location, where investigators would piece together the details of the shooting.
Surveillance Footage Reveals Shocking Details
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage that captured the moments leading up to the shooting. According to court documents, Rahman is seen approaching McLendon on foot, removing her jacket, and throwing it to the ground. An altercation then ensued between the two women.
The footage shows Rahman walking toward the parking lot of Archdale Minimart. Thirty seconds later, she returns, meeting an unknown black male and retrieving a handgun from his jacket. Rahman then approaches McLendon, who was seated in a chair, and shoots her in the chest.
Afterward, Rahman picks up her jacket, walks to her vehicle, and flees the scene.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have arrested Rahman, and is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by felon. She remains in jail with no bond.
