35-year-old Anthony Quinn Marshall of Wilmington faces serious charges, including “Death by Distribution,” following the fatal fentanyl overdose of Jessica Kelly in July 2023.
On July 13, 2023, deputies from the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Pender EMS, responded to a distress call on Blueberry Road in Currie, North Carolina. Upon arrival, emergency responders found Kelly unresponsive. Despite immediate efforts to save her life, Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.

Toxicology reports later confirmed that the cause of her death was a fentanyl overdose. Following her death, the Pender County Sheriff’s Office launched a thorough investigation to trace the source of the lethal fentanyl. Through extensive investigative work, law enforcement officials were able to identify Anthony Quinn Marshall as the alleged individual responsible for distributing the fentanyl that led to Kelly’s overdose.

On February 24, 2025, after nearly two years of investigation, Marshall was arrested and charged with “Death by Distribution.” He was booked into the Pender County Jail, with a bail set at $250,000. He posted bail on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
