Wendy Williams has courageously disclosed her recent diagnosis just in time for the highly anticipated Lifetime docuseries that will delve into the captivating life of the former talk show host.
According to a press release issued on behalf of Wendy Williams, her medical team revealed that in 2023, after a series of tests, she was officially diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.
Aphasia, a condition affecting speech comprehension and expression, along with frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder impacting behavior and cognitive functions, have posed significant challenges in Wendy’s life, as stated in the release.
The statement also mentioned Wendy’s previous openness about her health struggles with Graves’ Disease and Lymphedema, as well as other health-related obstacles she has faced. Questions about Wendy’s cognitive abilities have arisen in recent years, especially as she began experiencing difficulties with speech and financial transactions.
Weill Cornell Medicine was acknowledged in the statement for providing Wendy with the necessary medical care following her diagnosis.
This news comes shortly after a People cover story revealed that Wendy is currently residing in a facility under the financial supervision of a court-appointed guardian, with her family being unable to directly contact her. Only reachable through her guardian, whose identity remains undisclosed in the upcoming docuseries, Wendy’s sister and niece expressed their limited communication with her.
In a dazzling display of entertainment prowess, Lifetime is gearing up to unveil “Where Is Wendy Williams?” on Feb. 24. The two-night docuseries chronicles the life of the iconic Wendy Williams post the dramatic cancellation of her beloved daytime talk show in June 2022.
The cameras rolled until April 2023 when Williams took a break, but fear not, she still holds the prestigious title of executive producer on this project. With a three-picture deal in her back pocket, Wendy Williams continues to reign supreme in the world of television magic.
