I just don’t understand why Lil Kevin can’t gain control over his mother’s affairs or why none of these high-profile attorneys are willing to help him. This is such a sad and heartbreaking update on Wendy Williams’ health.
Her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, filed legal documents recently, confirming that the TV personality is now considered “permanently incapacitated” due to her ongoing battle with dementia. This comes after Williams’ diagnosis of early-onset frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and primary progressive aphasia, conditions that have significantly “impaired” her cognitive abilities.
The public filing states that the 60-year-old former talk show host has become “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated.” Williams’ health decline has been swift and unrelenting since her diagnosis in 2023, and it has now reached a point where she is unable to manage her own affairs.
This news follows a series of events beginning in early 2022 when her finances and welfare prompted Wells Fargo to take the unprecedented step of initiating a guardianship proceeding. Williams has faced several challenges over the years, including struggles with Graves’ disease, lymphedema, and alcohol abuse. Her diagnosis of FTD and aphasia in early 2023 only worsened her condition, leading to her placement under legal guardianship.
Alongside these health issues, Williams has been embroiled in a legal dispute with A&E Television Networks and Lifetime, the companies behind the controversial documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?. Morrissey has accused the networks of exploiting Williams’ vulnerability, claiming that the documentary was made without her consent while she was in a state of cognitive decline.
Williams’ supporters, including her family, have expressed concern over her treatment and the handling of her health situation. However, despite the difficult circumstances, her guardian has emphasized that Williams remains in the care of medical professionals, receiving the necessary support to manage her condition.
This is so sad.
