Two teenagers are behind bars without bond after being arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy, Benjamin Spleen, according to officials.

Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White confirmed the arrests of 18-year-old Malachi Johan Taylor and 19-year-old Thurman Henderson on Saturday following an intense manhunt near Louisburg.

Taylor faces multiple charges, including:

  • Attempted first-degree murder

  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana

  • Felony possession of cocaine

Henderson is also facing a slew of charges, including:

  • Felony accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder

  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana

  • Felony possession of cocaine

  • Fleeing or eluding arrest

  • Resisting a public officer

Both suspects are currently being held without bond at the Franklin County Jail.
