Dr. Mark Bowman, a highly regarded dentist in Greenville, North Carolina, and his wife, Robin Bowman, were the two who lost their lives in a plane crash on Friday, March 14.

The fatal accident occurred shortly after their Beechcraft Bonanza A36 aircraft took off from Pitt-Greenville Airport at approximately 7:45 a.m. The plane crashed near North Memorial Drive, between Belvoir and Airport Roads, devastating the community.

Dr. Bowman was a pillar in the Greenville dental community, having served patients in eastern North Carolina for over 33 years as the owner of Bowman, Padgett & Associates. His journey in dentistry began with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Biology in 1982, followed by earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986.

His expertise and dedication extended beyond his practice, as he was an active member of several esteemed professional organizations, including:

- Academy of General Dentistry
- North Carolina Dental Society
- 5th District Dental Society
- Flying Dentist Association
- Lifetime Member of the Dental Alumni Association at UNC Chapel Hill
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Bowman was an experienced pilot with a deep passion for aviation. He enjoyed spending time on the water, boating, and fishing, as well as creating lasting memories with family and friends at the beach.

The Bowmans’ passing has left an immense void in the Greenville community. Their dental practice expressed its heartbreak in a Facebook post, stating:
“With devastated and broken hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Dr. Bowman and his beautiful wife, Robin, in a tragic plane crash.”
Authorities, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
