Former Employee Puts The Dankery On Blast, Accusing The Restaurant of Filthy Conditions

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA — A former employee at The Dankery restaurant is going viral after posting a long, explosive Facebook rant exposing what she claims are unsanitary food practices, poor management, and a toxic workplace environment.

In her post, Kiona Weaver, who says she worked at The Dankery for over four years, described the restaurant as “unorganized, unstructured, and under managed,” accusing owner Ian of creating a chaotic and unsafe work culture.

Allegations of Drugs, Disrespect, and Dirty Work Conditions

Weaver didn’t hold back. She accused the owner of drinking and getting high on the job, saying his personality changes when intoxicated and that he encourages employees to join in.

“He drinks on the job and comes in tipsy 24/7,” Weaver wrote. “Then wakes up in the morning sending messages about ‘not drinking and not smoking’ when we witness him do worse.”

She also claimed he body-shames employees, fires workers unfairly, and blames others when things go wrong. Weaver compared him to “Mr. Krabs,” saying he only cares about money and not his staff.

Claims of Maggots, Spoiled Meat, and Filthy Floors

The most disturbing part of Weaver’s post came when she alleged serious sanitation issues inside the restaurant.

According to her, the Hillsborough Street location allegedly had maggots on the cutting board (video above), used “brown meat and meat that smells,” and recycled the same mop bucket for the bathroom, dining area, and kitchen.

“It’s been nights we didn’t have dish soap to wash dishes,” she wrote. “They are washed with degreaser and whatever we can find.”

Weaver said she helped open the Hillsborough location three years ago and that conditions have only worsened. She also alleged that the restaurant refuses customer refunds on delivery apps, even when orders are incorrect or incomplete.

As of now, The Dankery has not released an official statement addressing Weaver’s allegations.
