Police in Charlotte have apprehended a man who allegedly shot and killed a female colleague at the Cook Out on Sunset Road in Northwest Charlotte. The victim, Jaselyn Horne, a 26-year-old employee at the location for approximately four to five months, was tragically killed by her co-worker, 20-year-old Malek Crosby, early Sunday morning.
Court documents indicate that Horne was a victim of workplace violence, leaving behind her 5-year-old son, Steven. Her family describes her as a dedicated provider. John Horne, her father, mentioned that Steven is struggling to comprehend the situation and has been asking about his mother.
“He doesn’t even understand what’s going on right now, asked about his mother, he doesn’t understand right now,” John Horne said.
Investigators have not disclosed the reason behind the shooting, but Jaselyn’s family is seeking justice rather than revenge.
Authorities mentioned that all employees scheduled for that shift were on-site when police arrived, except for Crosby, who was apprehended a few hours later.
