DURHAM, N.C. – A second member connected to the Durham-based rap group 83 Babies was reportedly shot Monday evening in what authorities are calling an “isolated incident.”
According to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. to the 3700 block of Wake Forest Highway and found a man shot. Investigators believe the victim was actually shot somewhere else — and then drove himself to the location looking for help.
When deputies arrived at the scene outside of Carlie C’s grocery store, they found a small silver car sitting outside with a bullet hole in the driver’s side door. The victim was rushed to the hospital with what officials described as non-life-threatening injuries, and he is expected to survive.
Authorities have not officially released the victim’s name, but sources and street reports suggest the victim is Tyrese Devonate Taylor, also known as “Setitoff83,” a member of the 83 Babies rap group.
This shooting comes after another 83 Babies affiliate, rapper “YBT” (Young Boss Tevo), was shot and killed on Friday, March 13.
