Around 3 a.m. on July 13, officers were called to the 800 block of Virginia Street, where they found 19-year-old Ryo Steele and 20-year-old La’Ren Dickens gunned down in cold blood. Despite emergency efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Now, three men are behind bars facing first-degree murder charges in connection to the killings.
THE SUSPECTS:
-
Bernard Smith, 27, was the first to be picked up. Cops say he pulled the trigger on La’Ren Dickens. He’s currently sitting in the Edgecombe County Jail with NO bond.

-
Trevion Scarboro, 20, was arrested later in Sharpsburg and is also charged in Dickens’ death. He’s now locked up in the Nash County Jail, also held without bond.

-

Steele and Dickens, who were reportedly close friend. This tragic event was one of three separate shootings in Rocky Mount over the weekend, though police say they ain’t connected.

My question is WHY did these three men (Bernard Smith, Trevion Scarboro, and Devonte Dales) kill Ryo Steele and La’Ren Dickens?
The news like WRAL has really expensive camera equipment and really expensive vans full of video equipment. Why can’t they go interview the family and friends?
