Saquanna Thorpe Arrested For Forcing Woman To Work For Free

A Raleigh, North Carolina woman is catching serious heat—literally and legally—after being hit with some outrageous charges tied to a disturbing case of involuntary servitude.

According to court document obtained by The North Carolina Beat, 31-year-old Saquanna Thorpe allegedly turned her home into what can only be described as a modern-day prison.

Authorities say Thorpe confined another woman to her residence, refused to let her leave without supervision, forced her to cook and clean—without ever paying her a dime and threatened to kill the woman.

But wait, it gets worse.

Thorpe didn’t just stop at taking the woman’s freedom. She allegedly confiscated the victim’s financial and identification cards, essentially stripping her of the ability to seek help or escape.

As if that wasn’t enough, Thorpe is also accused of physically burning both of the victim’s forearms. That injury reportedly went untreated and later led to a dangerous MRSA infection.

Thorpe was released on a $25,000 secured bond. However, on Tuesday, she was re-arrested and hit with a kidnapping charge related to the case. Her bond is now set at $250,000 secured.
