Raleigh Man Shot After Refusing Ride To 60-Year-Old Man

A simple “no” turned violent in Raleigh when 60-year-old Terry Lee McNeil allegedly pulled a gun and shot a man who refused to give him a ride. The incident happened on Keeter Center Drive Thursday and left the victim hospitalized.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, McNeil approached a man sitting in his vehicle and asked for a ride. When the driver declined, McNeil allegedly pulled out a handgun, leading to a physical altercation. During the struggle, police say McNeil fired a shot, injuring the driver before fleeing the scene.

Charges McNeil now faces include assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Terry Lee McNeil, 60, is a convicted felon charged in a Raleigh shooting after allegedly attacking a man who declined to give him a ride.

He is currently being held at the Harnett County Detention Center. His first court appearance is set for August 1 at the Wake County Justice Center.
