A 38-year-old man was arrested on Friday, April 4, 2025, after he allegedly stole a Raleigh police cruiser in broad daylight.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers were dispatched around 1:26 p.m. to the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Wade Avenue following reports of a suspicious individual in the area. Upon arrival, the suspect—identified as Joshua Harris—allegedly fled on foot and entered an unattended Raleigh police vehicle and driving away from the scene.
Authorities launched an immediate search for the stolen police cruiser. The vehicle was later located at 417 Peace Street, parked in front of the Publix parking garage. Shortly after locating the vehicle, officers apprehended Harris without further incident.
Harris is facing charges of felony larceny of a motor vehicle.
