Raleigh Man Accused of Cutting Out Dog’s Intestines Charged with Felony Animal Cruelty

A Raleigh man is facing a felony charge after authorities say he violently mutilated a dog earlier this month.

According to court documents, 59-year-old Joseph Andrew Clark, of Dusty Road in Raleigh, was arrested on April 18, 2025, and charged with felony animal cruelty. The allegations stem from an incident that occurred on April 2, 2025, when Clark allegedly threw a knife at a dog before holding it down and cutting out the animal’s intestines.

The disturbing details were outlined in an arrest warrant filed by Wake County authorities.





Clark was taken into custody but later released from the Wake County Jail after posting a $30,000 secured bond on the same day of his arrest. He made his first court appearance on Monday. His next court date is scheduled for May 12, 2025.

As a condition of his release, Clark is prohibited from having any animals in or around his residence.
