The incident, which took place on May 23, led to Drakeford-Williams being charged with misdemeanor child abuse. She was taken into custody on May 29 by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, following an official report of abuse at the daycare facility.
In a May 23, prepared statement, Creative Kidz Academy said:
“For the past twenty five years Creative Kidz Academy Inc. has provided the highest quality care for our families. We hold our staff to very high standards. In the event they can not provide the highest quality care we can not employ them”. “We contacted law enforcement officials today to investigate a staff member that was released from their position . There were no injuries in our care or threat to any persons. Policies and procedures were not upheld by the previous employee and their employment terminated.”
Drakeford-Williams has since posted bond and is due back in court on June 25.
