Raleigh Couple Accused of Exposing Twins To Fentanyl

Raleigh couple arrested after exposing twin infants to fentanyl causing overdose in North Carolina home

Police say 22-month-old twins were found unresponsive after fentanyl exposure inside a Raleigh apartment — leading to the arrest of their mother and her boyfriend on felony child abuse and drug charges.

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA – Raleigh police say twin toddlers were found unresponsive after being exposed to fentanyl inside an apartment Monday night — and now their mother and her boyfriend are both behind bars.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers were called around 8:14 p.m. to the 6000 block of Lake Hills Drive after reports of an unresponsive child. When they arrived, officers discovered 22-month-old twins who were not breathing. Both children were given Narcan — a life-saving drug used to reverse opioid overdoses — before being rushed to the hospital.

Officials said the babies are expected to survive, but warrants reveal the toddlers were exposed to one of the deadliest drugs in the country.

Police developed probable cause to search the apartment, and what they found was even more disturbing — drugs, drug paraphernalia, and even a firearm were located inside.

Authorities arrested 25-year-old Vinus Humphreys, the twins’ mother, on Tuesday. Her boyfriend, 28-year-old Tyrone Bannerman, was taken into custody that same night.
