Missing Durham woman found safe

A missing pregnant Durham woman has been located safe in Washington, D.C.and she is putting the Durham Police Department on blast for not taking her seriously.

On Monday, The North Carolina Beat spoke exclusively with 44-year-old Aundria Edwards, who was previously reported missing by her family. Edwards confirmed she is safe and staying with a friend—who also spoke with The NC Beat to verify her safety.

In a video posted on Facebook, Monday morning, Edwards identified herself and explained that she found out earlier this morning that someone reported her missing.

“I immediately reached out to the Durham Police Department,” she said. “I spoke to an officer Graham, who laughed in my face.”

Edwards alleged that Officer Graham treated her call like a joke and acted unprofessionally when she tried to inform the department that she was not missing.

“HE DID NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY,” Edwards said in the video. “I FOUND HIM TO BE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. HE TOLD ME HE WOULD HAVE TO REACH OUT TO HIS SUPERVISOR AND HE WOULD HAVE TO CALL ME BACK.”

This update comes after The North Carolina Beat was contacted by concerned family members of Edwards, who said they hadn’t seen or heard from her since Thursday, July 10. At the time of her disappearance, Edwards was 8.5 months pregnant and scheduled to be induced over the weekend.

Her loved ones were frantic—telling The NC Beat they last spoke with her around 11:15 a.m. Thursday morning and have had no communication since. Durham Police reportedly pinged her phone, which last showed a location in Bracey, Virginia, according to family,  but when officers searched the area, Aundria and her White Tahoe was nowhere to be found.

Now that she’s been found safe, Edwards is making it clear—her disappearance was not a cause for public panic, but she’s disappointed in how Durham authorities handled the situation.

  1. I stopped believing at “induced over the weekend” doctors don’t want to be on call over the weekend so they don’t schedule induced births “over the weekend “.

    1. Not true, I had a scheduled induction on a Saturday…. Ended up going into labor before… the induction but it was scheduled for the weekend, Had my baby on a Sunday..

    2. They do induce over the weekend. I’m a nurse and know for a fact many doctors schedule inductions on the weekends.

  2. This not her first not second time manipulating the system. Several years ago she took my family through HELL!!!
    She’s sick

  3. I actually was with officer graham this morning right after he spoke with her and she refused to give him any info about her whereabouts. She wouldn’t give him an address to where she was so they could physically see her. She stated she didn’t know where she was. Durham police can’t clear her missing persons report until they physically see her, not by her calling them private. I know some police departments be slack, but Durham PD doesn’t deserve any of the blame here.

  4. She’s a liar and deserves jail. Faking pregnancies and wasting police resources deserves punishment. Makes me sick

  5. She sounds dumb as PHUCK! It clearly says she was supposed to be induced over the weekend. She had her family and community concerned about her DUMB A*S, now she’s actually all nonchalant! I hope and pray she don’t go missing EVER again! If she DO go missing let her inconsiderate a*s STAY missing since she wants to act like the police department is in the wrong. Maybe they are but DAMN!!
