Pastor Brian Richardson’s Facebook rant against a former member’s same-sex engagement sparks outrage.
What was supposed to be a church of love turned into a public embarrassment after Pastor Brian Richardson — a former Charlotte, North Carolina resident who also happens to be a JCPS police officer in Louisville, Kentucky — decided to drag a gay man on Facebook for simply sharing his engagement to another man.
On Sunday night around 9 p.m., New Ransom Church of the Living God, led by Pastor Richardson, posted a messy and hateful statement targeting Dimaris Carson, a former member who profile picture appeared in his engagement post.
“WE DO NOT STAND FOR THIS UNGODLINESS,” the post read. “The devil is trying to mess up the ministry but he WILL NOT. I’m putting the whole Facebook on notice — Pastor Brian Richardson nor the New Ransom Temple Inc does not stand for this ungodliness. It is an abomination and anyone who lives in homosexuality/lesbianism or any other sin with no repentance is hell bound.
The church’s post made it clear they wanted nothing to do with Carson.
And if that wasn’t enough, Pastor Richardson reposted it himself on his personal page, adding more scripture to double down on his public humiliation campaign.
“You must repent and be baptized in Jesus Name for the remission of sins and receive the Holy Ghost to go to heaven. – Acts 2:38,” Richardson wrote.
The internet wasn’t having it. People flooded Richardson’s personal page, calling out the hypocrisy of a pastor and police officer publicly attacking someone for living their truth.
Many questioned why a man of God and law enforcement — someone sworn to “serve and protect” — would choose to target and humiliate a former member online instead of spreading love and acceptance.
We looked at the photo Pastor Richardson is so upset about — and it turns out it’s Carson’s profile picture, which he’s had since April 24, 2025.
Carson responded in a short video, clarifying that he didn’t personally use the church’s photo on purpose.
“I didn’t personally use the church’s photo. I didn’t do that on purpose,” Carson said in his video. “It was by accident. So I don’t care how anybody feels — at the end of the day, I never disrespected this man. But for him to call me out of my name the way he did is disrespectful.”
Carson reiterated that he never meant any disrespect toward anyone.

When Carson updated his relationship status to “Engaged,” Facebook automatically generated a post using his current profile photo — the same image Pastor Richardson claims belongs to the church. Carson didn’t manually upload or tag the church; the system simply reused his existing picture, which he’s had since April.

I think that it was important to speak TRUTH and admonish those who are involved with incorrect or wrong biblical living and thinking however Mr. Carson is no longer a member and regardless, it should have been done in private. Jesus was about restoration; His entire ministry was restoring everyone back to right standing with God “The Creator” of the universe and everything and everyone in it. Galatians 6:1-9 “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently,” emphasizing the need for gentleness in correction. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.
Ephesians 4:15 instructs, “Instead, speaking the truth in love,” suggesting that truth-telling should be done with compassion and kindness.
John 8:11 illustrates Jesus’ correction of the woman caught in adultery, demonstrating that correction should be done with love and grace.
These verses collectively underscore that correction should be approached with love, compassion, and a desire for growth, rather than as a form of punishment or condemnation.

Being saved does not mean being quiet and allowing the WORLD and people that live in sin to run the church. There are rules and order. You can’t shut the mouth of the preacher no matter how mad you are. Next!
He called himself out when he publicly shared his relationship status online. Nothing hypocritical about once being sinners and now being saved. Nothing hypocritical about sharing God’s word. Quoting scriptures while defending sin? Now that right there is some hypocrite mess.
Let God be true every man a liar! As a “Christian”, and I say this in quotes because, there are many people that proclaim to be Christian. That proclaim to be followers of the doctrines and teachings of God, but rather are the followers of men’s doctrines and partake in damnable teaching of this world. As a true Christian and followers of Christ we must stand on the doctrines and principles of the word of God. As a believer, God warns us of not righteously representing his word and the consequences of not standing on the true principles of Christ. The ultimate pay off for such offenses is death. And this punishment is the more for a preacher of God’s word. He declares, Isaiah 58:1 —
[1] Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. Not there alone does it tell a preacher of God to stand, but also in Ezekiel 3:17-19.
It is his duty, it is a requirement from God, that a watchman, not a hireling correct, cry out to people going in the path of destruction and show them the way of truth. This error and it is in fact an error, one can call it love if they want, but the Bible declares the this type of “love” (really lust) is un-natural, Romans 1: 26-28. So, I commend this Pastor! He is standing on the principles and doctrine of God, rather than seeking to please men. For Paul himself said “Do I seek to please men or God! For if I seek to please men I should not be the servant of Christ.” So, yes the public is outraged, but this is because they don’t understand the true word of God. But its not about your feelings, its about the saving of one’s soul! As in your post dear writer, in order to be a true Christian, and follower of Christ one must repent. And the very meaning of repentance itself is to turn away from sin, be born of the water and the spirit according to Acts 2:38. You can not profess to be a believer and followers of Christ if you will not stand for the doctrines of God, and cry aloud that a wicked and sinful nation must come out from their iniquities, and homosexuality my dear writer is most certainly according to the word of God a sin. So to this brave warrior of Christ stand my good sir stand.

I pray that all repent of their evil, dark and bitter ways. And I pray that the pastor mentioned in this post continues to STAND FOR TRUTH and hold onto God’s unchanging hand.
This post is a waste of time and space. If someone aligned your name with a topic that you did not agree with, you would publically denounce it as well. This pastor is well within his basic human right to freely share that he does not go along with homosexuality. He is standing on God’s Holy Word and since you can’t attack God, you are attacking the MAN OF GOD. I saw a commenter state that the pastor asked the guy to change his profile picture and he said NO! Therefore the video of the guy saying he did not have the picture up intentionally would be FALSE!

The truth is the truth. He should’ve never posted it with the church on display, that was disrespectful. Be bold enough to let the devil use you to put a bad reputation on the church? Be bold enough to be called out and corrected on it. Pastor Brian did nothing wrong, you can all make it seem like he’s the bad person all you want. Truth is…you can’t handle the truth. Homosexuality is SIN. And New Ransom doesn’t stand for it.
If thia post was about drinking alcohol it would not have gotten the traction that this is getting. The Pastor asked Mr. CARSON to remove the profile picture and Mr. CARSON said No! When you or someone you love has an allergy, you have every right and requirement to state what the allergy is and to demand it not come near the vicinity because you value that life! This situation is truly the same thing. Pastor Brian Richardson has a mandate by God to stand for what the word says! Regardless of what people say or how they feel, he cant call himself a pastor that believes the Word if he dont back up that same word he’s claiming to represent! THAT would make him a hypocrite!

The TRUE church, the body of Christ, has a requirement to uphold the word of God because it values its life and being obedient to the word that the body is built off of. People are quick to call the church hypocritical when it stands for things that go against what’s popular or goes against things that the masses like. Most people like to quote every scripture about LOVE. But let me ask you this, if you had a family member that was doing something that was not beneficial to themselves and threatened their life in any way, would you not say anything and go about your business (because you love them and don’t want to hurt them) or would you tell them some hard truth in hopes to save their life (because you truly love them)?

Pastor Brian Richardson is a true man of God and you all want the church/ man of God to hush and be quiet but the word is going to make you mad every time! Study your word and ask God for understanding. Pastor Brian is did the right thing and ain’t no body mad but the devil!
This is a true man of God. People are not used to truth that has is not been sugar coated. We need more real men to stand on the word of God with boldness. People are so are upset because they are so used to being comfortable in the sins and need someone to be angry at. The preacher has a responsibility to keep the church clean and feed God’s sheep, and if he doesn’t stand firm he will be in trouble with God. The devil has truly blinded people and they use this as a reason not to attend church. Well the Bible requires us ALL to change and come out of sin if we want to make it to heaven. Somebody tell me how can homosexuals will make it into the kingdom of God? If you “feel some type of way” and feel the need to speak negatively on a Holy Ghost filled pastor you are the problem and need to get right and do it now. That Pastor standing on bible and business. People getting sensitive over the delivery without knowing what conversations happened in private. And everyone on FB are commenting about how there are other sins besides homosexuality— of course there are, why not take some time to find out what Pastor Brian specifically preaches on because I personally know he touches on everything the bible calls a sin. As should all pastors, but unfortunately not all pastors do that because people want to be coddled. They want sugar and a sweet word. They and don’t like when pastors preach the truth because it steps on their toes and cuts their heart.
I personally know when the word cuts my heart i take it on the chin and keep it pushing and let it grow me because at the end of the day the bible is right no matter if it hurts my feelings or anyone else’s 🤷🏽♀️

That preacher has a right to preach the truth the same way the homosexual can make the decision to live and speak their lie. Furthermore, Dimarius could have taken the picture down so it didn’t cause any confusion. Based on what I’m reading, the preacher is not spreading hate. He’s proclaiming the truth of the Gospel and he’s warning the world that if you live in sin you cannot inherit heaven. What happened to the days when we used to say;Tell the truth and shame the devil.
