Kylie Revis murder case
Two parents have been charged with the murder of their 3-year-old daughter. Ashley Cierra Barnes, 32, and Kendrick Akeel Revis, 35, were arrested on April 4 and charged with first-degree murder and felony child abuse in connection to the death of young Kylie Revis.
According to the Rocky Mount Police Department, officers were called to UNC Nash Healthcare at approximately 4:15 a.m. on April 1, after medical personnel reported an unresponsive child. Despite extensive efforts by the emergency medical team, Kylie was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival at the hospital.
An autopsy conducted by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Kylie’s death was a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head. Shockingly, investigators believe the fatal injuries occurred on March 28, nearly four days before the child was brought in for medical treatment. No immediate care was sought for the toddler during that time.
Authorities arrested Barnes and Revis three days later. Both are currently being held without bond at the Edgecombe County Detention Facility.
While the investigation is ongoing, officials have not released a motive for the fatal abuse.
