North Carolina Mother Charged
Another day, another reckless parent being dragged down right alongside their bad-azz kid!
A North Carolina mother has been charged after her 16-year-old son turned a 4th of July celebration into a crime scene at Truist Stadium Friday night.
According to Winston-Salem police, around 10 p.m. on July 4, officers were called to the stadium parking lot after shots were fired, leaving a juvenile with non-life-threatening injuries. But baby — the drama didn’t stop there.
The trigger man was reportedly 16-year-old Cortez Jimel Arbery Jr. Police slapped him with charges for assault with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. When authorities realized a car caught a bullet too, they hit him with extra felonies for assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm into occupied property.

Arbery, who clearly had no business roaming the streets that night with a gun, is now being charged as an adult for the big-boy crimes. Meanwhile, juvenile petitions are being filed for his misdemeanor charges.
Mother Charged
Turns out, Arbery’s mama wasn’t exactly Mother of the Year either. Police arrested 46-year-old Tia Shaundree Barnes, and sis came with a whole list of charges herself:
-
Contributing to the delinquency of a minor
-
Resisting, delaying, and obstructing a public officer
-
Possession of methamphetamine
-
Possession of cocaine
-
Possession of drug paraphernalia

Whewww chile…it looks like the family reunion gonna be at the county jail this summer.
Barnes also had an outstanding warrant on unrelated charges. She was hit with a $6,000 bond for that one alone.
In a no-nonsense statement, Winston-Salem Police Chief doubled down:
“Earlier this summer, we warned that parents would be held accountable if they failed to supervise their children — and we meant it.”
Well, he wasn’t lying.
