Family violence led to an arrest in New Bern after an 18-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her own sister during an argument.
Around 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, officers with the New Bern Police Department responded to an emergency call at the Craven Terrace apartment complex. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from a serious stab wound to her torso.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital and is currently listed in serious condition, according to police.

Apriel Hearnes Arrested
The suspect, identified as Apriel Hearnes, 18, was arrested at the scene without incident. Authorities say the stabbing stemmed from a heated dispute between Hearnes and her sister.
Hearnes has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. She is currently being held without bond at the Craven County Jail. Her first court appearance was scheduled for today, May 28.
New Bern Police are continuing their investigation into the stabbing. Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim.
