New Angle Emerges in Overhills High School Fight Involving Male and Female Students

Overhills High School fight video

A newly obtained video by The North Carolina Beat reveals a different perspective of a physical altercation at Overhills High School earlier this week, involving a male and at least five female students.

The incident has gained widespread attention after Marcus Walker, the father of the male student, initially posted footage on Facebook showing his son being attacked by at least five female students. The original video, now deleted, showed Walker’s son being struck and even hit with a phone by one of the girls, identified by her pink pants.

“Not once did he throw a punch but shoved them away,” Walker wrote in his now-deleted post. “If he had, it would have just confirmed the stereotype of a Black man being aggressive, resulting in him being locked up and labeled.”

The new classroom video, submitted to The North Carolina Beat by a student witness, begins with the female student in pink pants standing at the male student’s desk, speaking to him in what sounded like a warning not to touch her.

The male student then stands up and appears to push the girl with his left elbow while trying to remove his backpack. The girl grabs his shirt, leading the male student to push her off him more forcefully. This action escalates into a physical confrontation between the two.

Multiple female students can be seen rushing to the scene, reportedly defending the girl in pink. They are heard shouting at the male student to get off of her.

At one point, the male student is seen wrestling with the girl on the ground. During the scuffle, the girl swings her phone at the male student’s face. In response, the male student lifts her and slams her to the floor.

What remains concerning to many viewers is the apparent absence of any school staff or teachers in the video to intervene or de-escalate the conflict. It’s still unclear how long the confrontation had been brewing before it turned physical.

As of now, Harnett County School officials have not released a public statement regarding the incident.

  1. He did what he was taught, to defend hisself. She should have did what she was taught and keep her hands to herself and stayed out of his face. Therefore look what happened as a result.

  2. This girl is upset he didn’t like her, and he’s probably into someone else. Any attention is good attention. Now some simp is gonna avenge her depravity. I pray he’s alright. I pray she gets expelled and gets serious therapy.

  3. That girl starting it and the girls surrounding and hitting him should be prosecuted. He could have really hurt them and he was nice, didn’t even do what most people are taught to do. He gave them grace, you try that in a Brooklyn school all those girls would be missing teeth and in concussion protocol. He gave them grace because he was taught to control himself. I commend that young man.

  5. I am also interested in where the staff was during
this altercation. However it appears to me that the girls rushing in were trying to break them apart at first. But then he started swinging on them. Which is understandable when there are multiple people coming at him and he is not sure what their intentions are. Again where were the staff at to intervene?

    • It was said that things like this happen at that school all the time because of lack of teacher, and the principal only ignores situations.

  6. Had she kept her hands to herself and stayed out of his face, everything would have been good. He was NOT wrong for defending himself. All of them involved were wrong for jumping him. They should have just tried to separate them. And WHERE WERE THE TEACHERS??????
